Annetta L. (Smith) Brock, 87, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022 at the Oregon Care Center.
She was born in Oregon on January 10, 1935 to Edgar and Anna M. (Teschner) Smith. Annetta graduated from Oregon High School in 1953.
On May 22, 1954 she married Robert "Bob" Brock. He was a union member in the Local 101 Hoisting and Portable Engineers. He was also a farmer.
Annetta was a farmer's wife. She loved cooking, crafts, gardening, and working outside. She also loved working outside of the home. She worked before graduation in 1953 for Dr. Frank Sweaney of Oregon. The following years she worked for Richards Law and Abstract, and also for Dr. Howard Calkins. She owned the Forest City Diner in Forest City, Missouri from 1974 to 1977. From 1979 to 1988 she worked for Tiffany Heights nursing home in Mound City, Missouri as a CNA, and in the laundry, home health, and hospice departments. She then worked for Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Joseph, Missouri, retiring from there in 1996. In October of 1996 she purchased the Forest City Diner again, and sold it to her son Roger and his wife Kelly in 1997. She stayed working part time until the diner sold in April of 2004. She next went to work for Sequoia Financial Group in St. Joseph as an insurance agent from 2001 until 2012 when she retired.
Annetta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two half brothers, Emerson Boyd "Cap" Wilson and Howard Edward Smith; an infant brother, Donnie Dean Smith; three half sisters; infant sister Kathryn Mae Smith, Eleanor Peters, and Ruth Ketter; granddaughter, Amy Jo (Brock) Yocum; and son, Roger Brock.
Survivors include her son, Ricky Brock of Forest City; daughter-in-law, Kelly Brock; two granddaughters, Courtney (Michael) Oswald of Gower, Missouri, and Chiffany (Jason) Robertson of Forest City; two great granddaughters, Katelynn Johnson and Hayden Robertson; six great grandsons, Dalton and Brock Rauch, Bennett Robertson, Maverick, Ace, and Riggs Oswald; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services: Friday, September 2, 2022, 11:00 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials: Maple Grove Cemetery Association, for the upkeep of cemetery property.
