Ardath Mary (Elder) Schank was born March 6, 1937 to Doyle Marche and Mozelle Agnes (Milburn) Elder.

Mary graduated from Oregon High School in 1955. On Feb. 4, 1967 she married Kenneth Dwight Schank. He preceded her in death in 1999.

Mary passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013 at a Mound City care center at the age of 76.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; stepbrother, Delmar Frakes; brother-in-law, Dean Turner; and sister-in-law, Lucy Elder.

She is survived by her sisters, Wanda Turner and Nina (Otis) George, both of Oregon, Marjorie Ann (Jim) Ruhnke, Highland, Kan., Tina (Dennis) Gladman, Skidmore, Mo., and Julie Elder, Savannah, Mo.; brothers, J.T. Elder, St. Joseph, Bill (Marti) Elder, Liberty, Mo., Bob Elder, Oregon, Mo., Tony Elder, Cherry Point, North Carolina, and Jimmy (Stephanie) Elder, St. Joseph; and nieces and nephews.

Mary worked as a bookkeeper for Polsky Motors in St. Joseph and as a clerk/cashier for Walmart and Dillards. She also worked for the St. Joseph Casino for a few years. Mary enjoyed traveling and sewing. She was a member of the Oregon United Methodist Church.

Services were held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon, Missouri.Interment was held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon. Memorials may be directed to AseraCare Hospice. To order memorial trees in memory of Ardath Mary Schank, please visit our tree store.
