Barbara R. Hardy

Barbara R. Hardy was born on April 12, 1925 in Lowell, Massachusetts, one of three children of Leonard and Mary (Shaw) Brown.

After her mother’s death in 1934 she and her siblings were raised by a family in Derry, New Hampshire.

On July 28, 1944 she married Ernest Hardy, and they became parents of two children. The Hardy family moved to Mound City in 1970. Ernest passed away in 1999 after 55 years of marriage.

Barbara passed away on September 8, 2017 at an Oregon, Missouri care center at the age of 92.

Also preceding her in death were her father and her brother, Edward Brown.

Survivors include her son, Ernest, of Guthrie, Oklahoma; daughter, Linda Stroud of Mound City; sister, Doris Heath of Elkhart, Indiana; six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Services: Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, 11:00 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Mound City Nutrition Site.
