Bill Derr

December 23, 1935 — January 14, 2013

William “Bill” Alan S Derr was born on December 23, 1935 to George E. and Bernice V. (Guthrie) Derr. He graduated from Oregon High School in 1954.

On February 11, 1956 he married Ann Etta Markt, in Oregon. Bill and Ann became parents of four daughters, Agnes, Marilyn, Clara and Alice.

Bill was a lifetime farmer. He also sold DeKalb Seed for over 25 years, was an avid rodeo fan and a board member of the National Little Britches Association, and a member of the United Methodist Church of Oregon.

He was named an honorary fireman, known for his great bean cooking. He greatly enjoyed his circle of social life.

Bill passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 at his family home at the age of 77.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Marilyn and Clara; his parents; brother, Edward; and sister, Eleanor Nash.

Survivors include his wife Ann Etta of the home; daughters, Agnes (Jeff) Daise and Alice Derr; five grandkids, Mandy (Sean) Marrs, Casey Daise of Norfolk, Virginia, Roelyn (Candice) Daise, Kinsee Knapp and Kane Derr; five great grandkids, Hayden and Dylan Marrs, Dallas Billings, Calyn and Coltyn Daise, all of Oregon and Forest City; sister, Naomi Brodbeck and sister-in-law, Twyla Derr, both of Oregon; and nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon. Interment was held at Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Three Rivers Hospice, or Maple Grove Cemetery.
