Oregon

William Lee “Bill” Slusher, 63, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 at a Kansas City hospital.

Bill was born in Knob Noster, Missouri on May 29, 1958, the eldest of two sons of George Lee and Wanda Annette (Buckles) Slusher. He graduated from Oregon High School in 1976.

On January 27, 1978 Bill married Reva Herbert, and they became parents of a daughter and a son.

Through the years, Bill was an avid turkey, deer, and duck hunter, as well as a fisherman.  He especially loved teaching children how to do these things.   Bill was someone who could talk with anyone, and he made sure he kept in touch with those he cared about.

He was the Sunday School superintendent at the New Point Christian church for over 20 years, and always reached out to others, especially the children.

He retired form Norris Aggregates after working there for most of his adult career.

Bill loved his children, Sarah and Adam. He spent countless hours playing catch with Adam, hunting and fishing with him, and watching him play sports. Tragically, Adam died in an auto accident 15 years ago, but his passing blessed Bill and Reva with a new family.  Love and faithfulness were always shown to his wife, Reva, of 43 years and he will always be loved and missed in return.

Bill also loved his dog, Buddy.  The two of them could often be seen together going for a ride.

In addition to his wife, Reva, survivors include their daughter, Sarah;  granddaughter, Paycee Holmes; Paycee's mom Sonya and her husband Tanner Holmes, and her siblings  Cole, Hazel, William, and Heidi; brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Beth Slusher; mother-in-law, Frances Herbert of Maitland, Missouri; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Chuck and Ramona McComb of Maryville, Missouri, and Jim and Barbara Herbert of Pittsburg, Kansas; brother-in-law, John Hinkle; and nieces and nephews.

Along with his son, Adam, he was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, P.M. Herbert; and a sister-in-law, Karen Hinkle.
