Carl McKinnon Mackey was born February, 24, 1944 in Hamburg, Iowa, to Carl Owen Mackey and Lena Jean (McKinnon) Mackey.
Carl grew up in Forest City, Missouri, and graduated from Forest City High School in 1962. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on April 25, 1968 and served for two years.
Carl worked at LFM in Atchison, Kansas for 13 years, owned and operated Mackey Oil Co. in Forest City for 14 years, and operated the Oregon Water Treatment Plant for 22 years.
Carl passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014, at his Forest City home. Preceding him in death were his parents, grandparents, and brother, John. He is survived by Saundra of the home; son, Paul Lincoln Mackey of Gower, Missouri; stepson, Michael Dale (Victoria) Markt of Thompson, Missouri; granddaughter, Kelea Mabel “Mae” Markt; stepmother, Mavis Mackey of St. Joseph, Missouri; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra (Larry) Bamfield of St. Joseph; Paula (Paul) Jahnke of Fairhope, Alaska; Beth (Les) Wilson of St. Joseph; sister-in-law, Jeanie Mackey of Mound City, Missouri; brothers and sister-in-law, Mike (Theresa) Mackey of Oregon, Missouri; Jim (Andrea) Mackey of Cameron, Missouri; brother, Joe Mackey of St. Joseph; extended family, Peggy Parsons of Forest City; Jerry (Svitlana) Parsons of Gypsum, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services: Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Forest City United Methodist Church. Family visitation: Sunday, Aug. 10, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Interment: Forest City Cemetery. Memorials: Forest City Cemetery or Forest City United Methodist Church.
