Carol Jean “Jeanie” Ohlensehlen, 71, passed away on April 15, 2022 at the Oregon, Mo. care center. She was the daughter of Howard Leon and Mary Belle (Bullock) Carter.
Born December 31, 1950 in St. Joseph, Mo. (home was on the farm near Fortescue, Mo.), she attended school in Fortescue then in Craig, Mo., graduating from Craig High School in 1968. She then attended Gard Business University in St. Joseph, Mo.
On March 21, 1969 Jeanie and Dennis Eugene Ohlensehlen were united in marriage in Saint Peters Lutheran Church, Craig, Mo. They both belonged to this church.
The couple made their home on the farm near Mound City, Mo. Jeanie and Denny became the parents of four sons: Jeramie Keith, Jacob Kelly, Joshua Kaleb, and Jesse Kyle, also unborn Terri Gene.
Besides being a mother and homemaker Jeanie had several community jobs, the last before retiring was working for both Mound City and Craig schools – PAT (Parents As First Teachers).
Jeanie had a special love of quilt making and enjoyed visiting quilting shops everywhere she and Denny traveled.
Besides Denny, her husband of 53 years, Jeanie is survived by her mother, Mary Belle Carter of Mound City; her sons and their families: Jeramie of Lawrence, KS, Jacob and wife Amanda and their sons Henry and Luther of Springfield, Mo., Joshua and wife LeAnn and their children Bryon, Anna, and Emma of Fairfax, Mo. and Jesse of Holdridge, Neb.; cousins, Tom and Cathy Bullock and families of Noblesville, Indiana and Jeff Bullock of Fillmore, Mo.; and many, many friends.
Services: Wed, April 20, 2022, 10:00 am, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Mound City. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
