Catherine Eleanor Heikes was born on August 31, 1927 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Calvin A. and Antoinette (Patera) Heikes. Catherine graduated from high school in Omaha.
During the 1960’s, Catherine worked at SAC Air Force Base in the missile silo area. She retired from the Army Corps of Engineers in the 1980’s. She had also worked at First Data in Omaha, Nebraska as a telemarketer.
In 2012 Catherine moved to Oregon, Missouri from Kansas to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.
Catherine passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Oregon Care Center in Oregon, Missouri at the age of 87.
Preceding her in death were her parents; grandson, Christopher Nelsen; brothers, Bud and Gus Heikes; and sisters, Shirley Shukis and Ruth.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and Willy Kingsbury of Oregon, Missouri; grandchildren, Leslie Nelsen, Jr., Randal “Randy” Nelsen, Derrick Nelsen, and Kevin Nelsen; and two great grandchildren, Alex and Ashley Nelsen.
Catherine was of the Roman Catholic faith.
