Charles Edwin Wehrli, 93, of Mound City passed away Oct. 26, 2016 at Tiffany Heights Care Center in Mound City.
He was born to Paul and Georgia (Taylor) Wehrli on Nov. 15, 1922 in Mound City. Charles graduated from Bellevue High School in 1941.
After graduating high school, Charles became employed at the Martin Bomber Plant in Bellevue, Nebraska prior to being united in marriage to Bonnie Jones on March 30, 1946 in Troy, Kansas. They made their home in rural Mound City where Charles farmed the family farm until moving to town in 2004.
His passion for the farm kept him returning for daily visits or trips in the grain truck until a few months before his death. He also enjoyed driving the school bus for Bellevue School from 1959 until 1970. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was a lifetime member of the North Bethel Church of the Brethren in rural Mound City.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and an infant daughter, Cynthia Lee.
He is survived by his children, Rodney (Karen) Wehrli, Little Rock, Ark., Lisa (Bob) Bullock, Noblesville, Ind., and Tim (Marilyn) Wehrli, Mound City; sisters, Iris (Don) Scott, Silver Springs, Maryland, and Joyce (Ed) French, Daphne, Ala. He had seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, five nephews and a niece.
Services: Monday, 10:30 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Family visitation: Sunday, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the funeral home. Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City. Memorials: Mount Hope Cemetery Association.
