Claude R. Corbin

Claude R. Corbin was born in Elk Creek, Missouri on May 8, 1937. He grew up in Elk Creek, Maitland, and Ottawa, Kansas. Claude served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962, and then moved to Mound City in the mid-1960’s.

Claude married, and had one daughter. He later married Karen L. Browning in Falls City, Nebraska in 1966, and they became parents of three children. They made their home in the Mound City area.

Claude passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Oregon Care Center at the age of 76.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Lou Mitchell and Addie Helen (Gasser) Corbin; brother, Oscar Corbin; and brother-in-law, Joy Trimmer.

Survivors include his wife, Karen, of their Mound City home; daughters, Leslie Corbin of Camas, Washington, Samantha (Jamy) Miles of Mound City, and Anita Jo “Joey” (Matt) Livengood of Mound City; son, Mitchell (Donna) Corbin of Mound City; sisters, Addie Lou Trimmer of Mound City, and Mary Yakle of Pomona, Kansas; five grandchildren, Larry (Shawna) Farr, Kimberly Corbin, Bailee Schueth, and Corbin and Julia Miles; two great grandchildren, Peyton and Jayli Farr; and nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Claude enjoyed farming, tractor pulls, golf, and his grandchildren. He was a member of the Farmers Mutual Board and the Lions Club.

Family visitation was held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City. Funeral services and interment with military rites were held privately. Memorials may be directed to the Mound City Golf Association.
