Claudie H. Diggs

September 7, 1925 — June 26, 2013

Claude Herman Diggs was born on the Patterson Ranch near Maitland, Missouri on September 7, 1925. He was one of ten children born to John Ernest and Nona Mae (Massingale) Diggs. Claudie attended school in Maitland.

In 1944 he entered the United States Army, and served overseas during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He drove a truck for many years, mostly hauling cattle. He was a member of the Paul P. Shutts American Legion.

He married Bobbie Louise Nauman and they became parents of two children, Danny and Tammy. They later divorced. He then married Gloria Jean Ingram, and they became parents of two sons, Clark and Shane Diggs. They later divorced.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by siblings Herbert, Fred, Jim, Estelle and Tom Diggs, Helen Patton, Darlene Crowley, Dorothy Miller and Verlene Brown.

Claude is survived by his children and their spouses, Danny and Beverly Diggs of Mound City, Tammy and Patrick Long of Oregon, Missouri, and Clark Diggs and Shane Diggs, both of Springfield, Missouri; and nine grandchildren, Melisa Ann Allen, Hope Radley, Chandra McCarty, Stephen Long, Kalab Long, Tesa Diggs, Travis Diggs, Eric Diggs and Christian Diggs.

Services with full military rites were held on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 4:00 pm at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City. Family  greeted friends following the services. A private family inurnment was held at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Mound City Nutrition Site.
