D. Byron Black

D. Byron Black was born on January 30, 1933 in Oregon, Missouri to Hobert and Edna (George) Black. Byron attended Lincoln grade school, and graduated from Oregon High School in 1951.
Byron served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. After the service he worked for Black Fertilizer in Oregon and St. Joe Sanitation in St. Joseph, Missouri for a few years.
On June 23, 1956 he married Mary Reynolds. They moved to Forest City, Missouri in 1957 and Byron began farming, raising row crop and livestock.
Byron passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at his Forest City, Missouri home at the age of 84.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mary, in 2003; brother, Kermit Black; and sister, Geneva Merrit.
Survivors include his sons, Dale (Terri) Black of Oregon and Dean Black (Betty Penland) of Forest City; daughters, Leah (Wayne) Markt of Oregon and April (Jim) Eaton of Oregon; five granddaughters; one step grandson; and 10 great grandchildren.
Services: Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, 2:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Family visitation: Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Interment: Benton Church Cemetery, Forest City, Mo. Memorials: American Heart Association, the Holt County Cancer Fund, or Benton Cemetery.
