Dale Gene Meyer, 62, of Oregon, Missouri, formerly of Cortez, Colorado, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017 at a St. Joseph hospital.
Dale was born in Fairfax, Mo. on July 14, 1955, the third of four sons of Robert J. and Jerry Lee (Patterson) Meyer.
Dale graduated from South Holt High School in 1973, where he was active in sports, especially track. He earned a track scholarship to Northeast Missouri State College, and completed his BS in Leisure Management from Missouri Western State College.
Dale worked as a park ranger at the Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado. In 2016 after 23 years of service with the US Park Service, Dale retired and moved back to Oregon.
Dale was preceded in death by his father in 2014, and by an older brother, Robert L. "Bobby" Meyer, earlier this year.
Survivors include his mother, Jerry, of Oregon; brothers, Jim Meyer of Oregon and Mark (Elizabeth) Meyer of Falls City, Neb.; sister-in-law, Barbara Meyer of Alpine, Calif.; nephews, Aaron and Andrew Meyer of Kearney, Neb.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services: Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, 3:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Family will greet friends prior to services, beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon. Memorials: Maple Grove Cemetery for the purchase of trees.
