Darrell Max Markt

Darrell Max Markt was born on September 9, 1920 in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was one of three children of Wesley Walter and Susan Charline (Kunkel) Markt. Max graduated from Oregon High School in 1937.

On November 1, 1941 he married Kathleen Erdean Sommer at her parent’s home in Oregon. Max and Kathleen began their life together at the farm where Max lived his entire life. They were married 69 years. They became parents of five children. Max was a busy farmer and father.

Max passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Oregon Care Center at the age of 91.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant son, Roger; brothers, Ronald and his wife Mildred, and Dean Markt; and a grandson-in-law, Victor Scott.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Merrilee (Caton) Markt of Oregon, Larry and Linda (Davis) Markt of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Loren and Carla (Kenny) Markt of Oregon; daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Leroy Scott of Savannah, Missouri; sister-in-law, Billie Sommer of Oregon; 12 grandchildren and their spouses; 23 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Woodville Presbyterian Church in Oregon. Family visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Oregon. Memorials may be directed to the Woodville Church, the T.J. Hall Building, or to the charity of donor’s choice
