Denis L. Holmes

U.S. Army (retired) Denis L. Holmes, 75, passed away Dec. 26, 2016 at a Maryville, Mo. care center.

He was born in Watson, Mo. and graduated from Watson High School in 1959.

Denis entered the United States Army in 1960 and served in Korea, Japan, and Viet Nam. While in Japan he met and married Kyoko Akada, and they became parents of three sons. Denis retired from the Army in 1980.

Denis was preceded in death by his parents, Ray F. and Margaret F. (Clodfelter) Holmes; wife, Kyoko; and their son, Ray.

Survivors include his sons, Isao and George Holmes, both of Georgia; sisters, Sue Bright, Rock Port, Mo., and Kathryn Sloop and Beulah Collins, both of Watson; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Services: Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, 2:00 pm, Watson Baptist Church. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment with military rites: High Creek Cemetery.
