Dennis L Christians

Dennis L. Christians, 75, of Rock Port passed away Friday, April 15 , 2022, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Dennis was born September 26 , 1946 in Denison, Iowa, to Leslie and Verna (Jewell) Christians. He graduated from Rock Port High School in 1964. After high school, Dennis enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1969 and served as a radar tech on the USS Goodrich in the Mediterranean Sea.

On August 23 , 1974, Dennis married Beverly Chambers in Tarkio. They had two sons, Curtis and Luke, who they raised in Rock Port.

After he returned from the Navy, Dennis was an over-the-road driver for Ottmann Brothers and then Farris Truck Lines in Faucett, Mo. In order to be home with his family, he then took a job at the meatpacking plant in Rock Port. He started trucking at Rock Port Oil in 1982, and he remained there until his retirement in 2019. After retirement, he continued to take on trucking jobs locally.

Dennis was a faithful member of the Rock Port United Methodist Church. He loved to sing in the church choir and the Nebraska City Apple Corps Choir. Music was his passion.

Dennis was the best of the best. He is remembered as a gentle, humble, compassionate man who always was willing to lend a hand to help family and friends. He supported his family in everything they did and always reminded them that he loved them “a whole bunch.”

Dennis is survived by his wife, Bev, of Rock Port; two sons, Curtis Christians of Rock Port and Luke (Kendra) Christians of Columbia; five grandchildren, Chord, Zeke, Camilla, Katy, and his namesake Denny; two sisters; and many family and friends who loved him dearly.

A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 , 2022 at the Memorial Building in Rock Port.
