Donald D. Wright

December 13, 1940 — September 10, 2017

Donald Dean Wright was born on Dec. 13, 1940 in Maryville, Missouri. He graduated from Bellevue High School.
Donnie entered the U.S. Navy in 1960 and served until his discharge in 1964. He then served in the 139 th Air National Guard until his retirement.
Donnie married Delores Douglas, and they became parents of four children, Robert, Joseph, Douglas and Donna. Delores passed away in 1976.
Donnie then married Shiela and they had a son, Robin.
Donnie married Jackie Hunsley, and became stepfather to Allison Hunsley. Jackie passed away in 2000, and Allison passed away in 2003. Donnie raised Allison's son Curtis as his own.
On March 21, 2008 Donnie married Dixie Nolte, and became stepfather to her children, Tim, Kim, Tom and Shawn.
Donnie was active in various groups including Camp Geiger, Pony Express Museum and the chili cook-off. He taught Indian lore at many area schools.
Donnie passed away on Sept. 10, 2017 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph at the age of 76.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Wright and Harold and Elizabeth Homedale; wives, Delores and Jackie, son, Robert; stepdaughter, Allison Hunsley; and sister, Amy Singleton.
Survivors include his wife Dixie, of their home; children, Douglas Wright, Dahlonega, Georgia, Donna (Howard) Hufford, Mound City, Missouri, and Robin Wright, California; stepchildren, Tim (Rachel) Miejan, St. Joseph, Missouri, Kim Deck, St. Joseph, Tom Snodgrass, Norfolk, Nebraska, Shawn Janulewicz, Albany, Missouri, and Angie (Ted) Kosub, Universal City, Texas; daughters-in-law, Connie Wright, Centralia, Missouri, and Bonnie (Curt) McCall, Mound City; nephew, Ronnie Singleton; niece, Teri Singleton; 16 grandchildren, including Curtis (Renee) Gegen; and 11 great grandchildren.
Services: Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, 1:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Family visitation: Thurs., Sept. 14, 2017, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Interment: Fairview Cemetery. Memorials: Pony Express Museum or Camp Geiger.
