Dora (McDonough) Pierson was born in Cheshire County, England on February 25, 1925. She graduated from high school in England, and then married William Pierson on October 11, 1944. They became parents of three children.
Following WW II, the Piersons moved to New Point, Missouri, then to St. Joseph, Missouri, and later to Oregon, Missouri. Dora was a homemaker, and a member of the War Brides Club, the Culp Club, and the Oregon United Methodist Church.
Dora passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Oregon Care Center at the age of 88.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Harriett A. (Steed) McDonough; daughter, Diann; brothers, Hugh and Walter McDonough; and sister, Nellie Slee.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, William, of their Oregon home; sons, Fred Pierson of Panama City, Florida, and Jim (Lora) Pierson of Oregon, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Erin (Sean) Slocum, and Brian, Ron, Fred, Steve, Adam, Zeb, and Ian Pierson; 15 great grandchildren, Bridgett, Audry, Mariah, Patrick, Lucas, and Colin Slocum, Zyera Hicks, Fionna and Kierrah Slocum, Adam W. (Jasmine) Pierson, and Jessica, Corey, Kristina, Brookelyn, and Nixon Pierson; and nephew Robert Slee and his family.
Services were held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon. Family visitation was held on Thursday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Interment was at Benton Cemetery in Mound City.
