Dorothy Evelyn Salfrank was born to Steven and Sarah Elizabeth (Wood) Lawless in Coatesville, Indiana on February 17, 1912. She was one of eleven children.
Dorothy was married to Carl George Salfrank in 1933. they farmed in the Rock Port and Craig, Missouri area. Carl passed away on May 9, 1975 at Fairfax Hospital.
Dorothy passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at a St. Joseph care center at the age of 100.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Byron Eugene Salfrank, in 1964; son-in-law, Ed Freeman in 2008: great grandson, Dustin Bentley in 2006: six sisters, Mildred Lewis, Pearl Scharringhausen, Ann Humphreys, Helen Winkler, Bessie Bungenstock, and Beulah Gayler; and three brothers, Kenneth Lawless, Ralph Lawless, and infant, Byron.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Jean Freeman of St. Joseph, Missouri; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald Keith and Margaret Salfrank, Country Club, Missouri; sister, Virginia Hain of Independence, Missouri; eight grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Rock Port. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the church.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 10th at the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, Missouri at 2:00 p.m. with interment at the Greenhill Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mignon Makos for her many years of loving and compassionate care, the staff of Saxton Riverside Care Center, the 3rd floor staff of Heartland Hospital, Kendallwood Hospice and all who remembered her on her recent one hundredth birthday.
