Emilie Jane Boswell

Emilie Jane (Rebel) Boswell was born February 1, 1939 in Mound City, Missouri to Hinrich George Rebel and Emma Antje Sophia (Gerdes) Rebel. Emilie was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from Mound City High School in May 1957.

Emilie married Joseph Sterling Boswell at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Mound City, Missouri on April 22, 1962. They moved to Gladstone, Missouri in 1966 where they remained and raised their three children. Emilie was a devoted wife, mother, and seamstress, and a dedicated worker for various companies throughout her life.

Emilie was a member of the Barry Christian Church Kansas City, Joy Group Northminster Presbyterian Church Kansas City and Northland Twins Club Kansas City. She supported her husband’s volunteer efforts up to his death in 2006.

On Monday, December 16, 2019 Angels ushered her soul to Heaven.

Emilie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her siblings, Harvey (Mildred) Rebel, Viona (Raymond) Scarbrough, Fritz (Doris) Rebel, infant twins Edith and Ida Rebel, and Jay (Nancy) Rebel.

She is survived by her children, daughters Rebecca Jane (John) Mikesic of Edwardsville, Kansas and Tracy Ann Boswell (fiancé Billie Gillenwater) of Savannah, Missouri, and son Chris Sterling (Christy) Boswell of Gladstone, Missouri; sister, Verna (Edward) Young of Mound City; sister-in-law, Patricia Keeney of St. Joseph, Missouri; grandchildren, Sarah Mikesic, Samantha Fuson, and Cole and Cassidy Boswell; and countless nieces and nephews.

Family visitation followed by prayer service: Friday, December 20, 2019, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Barry Christian Church, 1500 NW Barry Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Family visitation: Saturday, December 21, 2019, 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City, followed by the funeral service. Interment: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, Missouri.
