Eugene "Gene" M. Ingram

Eugene “Gene” M. Ingram was born April 1, 1920 in Urbana, Ohio to Delbert E. and Mary M. (Black) Ingram. The family moved to Rock Port in 1962.
Gene attended Maryville State Teachers College, where he majored in agriculture and minored in mathematics and science. He then was inducted into the U.S. Army, where he served as sergeant with the 375 ^th Troop Carrier Group in the Southwest Pacific as an airplane maintenance technician. While in the Army he also taught classes in aerial engineering and in emergency repair in flight to officers and enlisted men.
On Feb. 16, 1944 he married Dorothy A. Hall in Hiawatha, Kansas. They owned and operated jewelry stores in Hopkins, Plattsburg, and Rock Port. Dorothy and Gene were married for 70 years before Dorothy passed away in 2014.
Gene passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Pleasant View nursing home in Rock Port at the age of 96.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Daniel Ingram; brother, Delbert, Jr.; sister, Vivian Cruth; and infant sister, Audrey Louise Ingram.
Survivors include his daughter, Geraldine “Gerry” and her husband Dennis Sherry of Kansas City, Missouri; son, John Ingram of Rock Port; sisters, Alice Giannotti, Annabelle Baker, and Phyllis Manneveld; grandchildren, Ian, Merrenda, Matthew and Tyler; and great grandchildren, Savannah, Chevy, Dominic and Hudson.
Gene was a member of the American Legion, and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid coon hunter, who raised and trained championship coon dogs.
