Evan Reese Copsey, II was born on February 14, 1933 in Springfield, Missouri to parents Evan R. and M. Belle (West) Copsey. Evan graduated from Springfield High School in 1951, and Drury College with a degree in geology in 1955.
On January 29, 1955 he married Jane McFarland Davis in Sullivan, Missouri. They became parents of three children. Evan and Jane owned the Fidelity, Holway and KLM Telephone Companies for many years.
Evan passed away on November 14, 2022 at a Mound City, Missouri care center at the age of 89.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Betty Maples. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jane, of Mound City; their children, Evan Reese (Tresa) Copsey, III of Rich Hill, Missouri, Bruce (Paula) Copsey of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and Jennifer (Darren) Newbanks of Sullivan, Missouri; brothers, Reese Evan Copsey of Camarillo, California and Kirk Copsey of Kelseyville, California; eight grandchildren, Sarah and Samantha Newbanks, Steve and Kyle (Devon) Copsey, Karen (Richard) Kithcart, Amanda Long, James Latzel, and Brian Copsey; eight great grandchildren, Logan, Halie, Ethan, Eric, Zack, David, Evan, and Finley; and nieces and nephews.
Evan also farmed and was an avid rock collector. Evan proudly played the clarinet for the Springfield Symphony for several years.
Family visitation: Friday, November 18, 2022, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. A second visitation will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at Eaton Funeral Home, 347 N. Clark St, Sullivan, Missouri, followed by funeral services. Burial: I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Sullivan.
