Evelyn Meredith Moore, age 99, passed away peacefully on Oct. 18, 2019 at the Oregon Care Center.
She was born on April 13, 1920 in Holt County, the eldest daughter of Henry W. and Marie A. (Boyd) Prussman. Evelyn grew up on a farm near Forbes, Mo. and attended Bluff City Country School.
She married Kenneth Oscar Moore on Sept. 17, 1938 in St. Joseph, Mo. They shared 52 years together and had one daughter, Marilyn.
Evelyn was a member of the Christian Church of Forest City, Mo. Over the years, they resided in St. Joseph and Pasadena, California where she worked assembling aircraft parts while Kenneth was in the military. Then as Kenneth was being sent overseas to serve in World War II, they traveled back to Missouri, making their home in Forest City.
She enjoyed sewing fancy handwork, playing games with her grandchildren, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for keeping her family and friends on their toes and making them laugh.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Quick of Oregon; grandchildren, Brian Polaski (Jamie Sopoci) of Osage Beach, MO., Erin (Brandon) Schlake of Platte City, Mo.; great grandchildren, Jeana Gordeuk of Craig, Mo., and Addyson, Charlotte, Ellianne, and Charlie Schlake of Platte City; sister, Ruth Callow of Oregon; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Marie Prussman; her husband, Kenneth; brother, Herbert Prussman; sister-in-law, Helen Prussman; and brother-in-law, John Callow.
Funeral services will be held at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at the Forest City Cemetery.
