Evelyn M. Thomas-Haeffele

December 23, 1914 — August 10, 2012

Evelyn M. Thomas-Haef­fele, 97, of Mound City, passed away August 10, 2012, at a St. Joseph hos­pital.

She was born in Kansas City and attended school there.

She married Lynn Thomas in 1933, and he preceded her in death in 1970.

She married Walter Haeffele in 1978, and he passed away in 1999.

Evelyn opened a flower shop in 1954, and continued to work there until 1978.

She moved to Mound City in 2002.

Evelyn was also preced­ed by her parents, Delbert and Myrtle (Doty) Havlic; brothers, Delbert, Billy and Donald; sisters, Dor­othy, Alberta, Virginia and Barbara.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and David King of Oregon, Missouri; daugh­ter, Janet Sue of France; brother, Eugene Havlic of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; three grandchildren, Derek King of Dallas, Texas, Davi­na and her husband Jere­my Deen of Liberty, Missouri, and Tana Williams of New York; and three great-grand­children and loving chil­dren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren from the Haeffele marriage.

Services were held on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Mound City.  Interment was held at the New Point Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Mound City Nutrition Site.
