Francis Kendall Jackson, 82, passed away on September 23, 2021, after a long battle with cancer.
Ken grew up in Northwest Missouri and graduated from Oregon High School, Oregon, Missouri, in 1958.
After attending Bethany Nazarene College in Oklahoma, he worked in agriculture and construction early on, and later owned his own trucking business. His family remembers the long family trips they took across the country in his truck.
After retiring from Yellow Freight, Ken enjoyed his hobbies of hunting, fishing, gardening, and sport aviation in Clinton, Missouri, near Truman Lake, and was a member of the Elks Lodge #1034 there. He was also a World War II history buff, and was interested in Native American Culture, especially that of his tribe, the Cherokee. He was Honored Elder in the Indian Council of Many Nations, Kansas City. Ken helped to organize many Pow Wows and Native American educational events in the area. He also gave programs to school children about Native American Culture.
Ken was an avid Mason, having served his Northeast Masonic Lodge in Kansas City as Worshipful Master. He also served as Worthy Patron of the Golden Gate chapter of the Eastern Star in Kansas City, and was a member of the Scottish Rite, the Shrine, and the Missouri Lodge of Research. He was instrumental in escorting sheltered workshop members to the Shrine circus each year, among many other charitable activities. At his death, Ken was a member of Sheffield Masonic Lodge No. 625 in Kansas City.
Ken leaves his wife, Marjorie, of the home in Fredericksburg, Virginia, his son, Brad Jackson and wife Mel of Independence, Missouri, stepdaughter Charlene Darnell and husband Bob of Olathe, Kansas, stepdaughter Kymm Swank of Los Angeles, California, stepson Peter Swank of Cambridge, Massachusetts, grandson Wesley Darnell of Olathe, Kansas, granddaughter Linda Florez and husband Chris of Kansas City, Kansas, granddaughter Baylee Duzenberry of Kansas City, Missouri, and great-granddaughters Cecilia and Alexandra Florez of Kansas City, Kansas.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at the Sheffield Masonic Lodge #625, 903 Harrison Street, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial followed that day at 3:00 P.M. at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, Missouri. Ken will be dearly missed by all.
