Frank was born in Seattle, Washington to Clara Rilling and Glenwood Scott. He graduated from Queen Anne High School and was sent to Cold Bay, Alaska in the Aleutian Chain during 1942 on a coal powered ship. This was the start of his lifelong love of Alaska.
He joined the FAA as a teletype operator after his discharge from the Army and lived in Anchorage. He worked in Annette Island, Juneau and later in Fairbanks. He married Frances Ellen Abbott the day after Valentine’s at the Baranof Hotel in Juneau in 1950. Frank was a member of Igloo #4 as a lifetime member in Fairbanks and a proud member of the American Legion in Mound City.
Frank spent his productive years in Fairbanks, Alaska where he was an air traffic controller and the owner of Scottie’s Guide Service, which specialized in moose and Dall sheep hunts. His passion was flying and he owned many small aircraft over the years – each one an upgrade from the previous model!
After he retired from the government in 1976 he and Fran spent almost 40 years rotating between Alaska, Mound City and Florida. He enjoyed his small farm outside of Mound City and his many fruit trees in the backyard. He truly loved the welcoming community of Mound City and the many friends he had there. He transitioned from Fairbanks to Kenai and spent many decades plying the waters on the Kenai River for red, silver and king salmon along with many halibut trips in Kachemak Bay. His friends at ‘fish camp’ where some of his very best friends over the years.
Frank is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Frances E. Scott, and his brother, Robert G. Scott.
He is survived by his daughter, Gail E Scott (Arturo Garcia), and his four nephews, Stephen Wright (Martha), David Wright (Mary Cate), Dennis Wright (Stephanie) and Robert Wright (Robin), as well as his niece, Sheila Scott. Grandchildren include Adriana Garcia (Scott Lindahl), Bianca Parrott (William) and three great grandchildren, Benji, Jonah and Camila.
