Franklin E. “Frank” Stansbury was born Dec. 6, 1932 in Oregon, Missouri to Lloyd B. and Julia F. (Grimes) Stansbury.
On May 1, 1958 he married Amy Irene “Peggy” Noellsch, and they became parents of four children. She preceded him in death in 1994. He then married Betty Gann Burton in 1998.
Frank worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation for 27 years, retiring in 1995.
Frank passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at a St. Joseph hospital at the age of 80.
In addition to his first wife, Peggy, he was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Stansbury; sisters, Kathleen Thrash, Annabelle Stone, and Agnes Campbell; half sister, Mary Dyer; half brother, Chester Dyer; and infant grandchildren Shelby and Hayden Panning.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of their Oregon home; sons, Rick Stansbury of Raymore, Missouri, and Clinton “Ray” Stansbury of Freeport, Illinois; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and John Panning of Mound City, Missouri; stepdaughters, JoAnn and husband Dennis Buckley of Stewartsville, Missouri, and Sherry and husband Charles Cox of Oregon; sister, Izyel George of Forest City, Missouri; special sister-in-law, Avalee Grimes; and grandchildren, Jacob, Devon and Ericka Stansbury, and Destiny Panning.
Frank was a strong Democrat. He enjoyed gardening, feeding birds, and visiting and telling stories.
Services were held Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon. Family visitation was held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday. Interment was held at Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Maple Grove Cemetery.
