Galen Iven Miller was born on Nov. 4, 1919 in Oregon, Missouri. He was the second of four sons born to Iven B. and Ida F. (Burrier) Miller. Galen attended Oakland rural school.
On Sept. 1, 1945 he married Merle Bender, and they became parents of two daughters. The Millers farmed in the Oregon area, raising hogs, cattle and grain.
The Millers were active members of the First Christian Church of Oregon. He liked to duck hunt and fish. Following his retirement he enjoyed sharing early morning coffee and conversation with friends.
Galen and Merle recently celebrated 69 years of marriage.
Merle passed away on September 30, 2014. Galen passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Oregon Care Center at the age of 95.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie and Tom Williams, and Janet and B. J. Bailey, all of Oregon, Missouri; three brothers, Glenn (Pat) Miller of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Lewis (Helen) Miller, and Lawrence Miller, all of Oregon; four grandchildren, Brian (Rachel) Williams, Betsy (Jeremy) Tobin, Jaime Bailey, and Bret (Kristi) Bailey; six great grandchildren, Westyn and Wyett Williams, Taylor, Tanner and Ty Tobin, and Brilee Bailey; and nieces and nephews.
Services: Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, 11:00 am, Oregon First Christian Church. Family greeted friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials: Oregon First Christian Church.
