Georgina "Gina" Curtis

June 27, 1954 — February 13, 2015

Georgina “Gina” Marie Curtis was born on June 27, 1954 at Fort Belknap, Montana. Gina was a member of the Gros Ventre Indian tribe.

On December 8, 1996 she married John A. Curtis in Cameron, Missouri. They moved from Falls City, Nebraska to Maitland, Missouri in 2000.

Gina worked as a CNA, and also as a police officer. She tutored college students. Gina enjoyed plants and animals, and was a lifetime member of the Smithsonian Institution.

Gina passed away on Friday morning, February 13, 2015 at her Maitland home at the age of 60.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Stanley and Julia (Iron Man) Rye.

Survivors include her husband, John; her son and daughter-in-law, Dominic and Thea Hanway of Maitland; sister, Belle Rose Iron Man of Springfield, Missouri; and grandchildren, Dominic, Crystal, and Chelsea.

Services: Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, 2:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City, Mo. Family greeted friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Shiloh Cemetery.
