Glen Eldon Nauman, Sr. passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at the age of 95.
He was born on June 7, 1925 in Graham, Missouri to Glen Casper and Thelma Catherine (Holmes) Nauman. He attended Bellevue School and graduated in 1943.
He married Barbara L. Barth on January 7, 1967. She survives of the home.
Glen was an Army veteran of World War II and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He also served in the Air National Guard at Rosecrans Memorial Airport in St. Joseph, Missouri. He obtained his pilot's license through the GI Bill after World War II. He was a flight instructor for ROTC students at KU and did some charter flying for several years. One of those trips took him as far as the Arctic Circle. He maintained his pilot's license and instructor rating through the age of 85. He was also a lifelong farmer and had been the overseer of his small trucking company.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Mound City, Missouri and a member of the American Legion. He was a strong Christian man who loved God and was often heard quoting Ephesians 2:8-9. He was a patriot and loved his country. He was a devoted husband and dad who loved his family and friends. He was always willing to help others and had the very best sense of humor. He was a man of great character and left a legacy of honesty and trustworthiness.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Glen and Thelma Nauman; sister-in-law, Martha Anne Nauman, nephew, Doyle Nauman, in-laws, Mark and Genevieve (Smeya) Barth; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his son, Glen Eldon (Mary) Nauman, Jr. and his daughter, Nancy Nauman, all of Mound City; grandson, Jason (Jennifer) Tenney; granddaughter, Danielle (Corey) Gordon; great grandchildren, Bryson Tenney, Jake, Courteney, Hunter, and Kaitlen Gordon; special first cousin, Melvin "T.J." Miles of Fairfax, Missouri; brother, Duane L. Nauman of Mound City; nephew, Duane A. (Linda) Nauman, Mound City; niece, Gale (Ralph) Ball of Fairfax; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark J. and Linda Barth of St. Joseph; brother-in-law, Kenneth Barth of Osborn, Missouri; family friend, Bill Frye; nephew, Mark Tyson Barth of Salado, Texas; niece Elizabeth (Trevor) Boyd of Gillette, Wyoming; nephew, Matt Barth of Colorado; lifelong family friends John and Linda Stewart of Slatington, Pennsylvania; numerous great nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Private family graveside services with military honors: Wednesday, December 2, 2020, 2:00 pm, Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Open visitation all day Tuesday. Memorials: Mound City Rural Fire Department.
