Glenn C. Cooksey

May 1, 1927 — February 16, 2013

Glenn C. Cooksey was born on May 1, 1927 in Forest City, Missouri. He was the son of Earl Herbert and Leora Catherine “Lee” (Carlton) Cooksey.

Glenn graduated from Oregon High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and the Korean War.

On February 15, 1964 he married Bonnie M. Davison in Troy, Kansas. Glenn and Bonnie lived in Forest City, where he worked as a bank officer. They moved from Forest City to Mound City in 1981.

Bonnie passed away in 2004. Glenn passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Oregon Care Center at the age of 85.

Also preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Sue and Larry Hughes of Holt, Missouri, Jill Ann and Don Jones of Savannah, Missouri, and Debra Lynn “Debbie” Cooksey of West Lynn, Oregon; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Hershel Hughes of Oregon; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Glenn was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed traveling with Bonnie, gardening, and dancing. He also enjoyed western movies, especially John Wayne movies. He was of the Christian faith.


Services were held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon.  Interment was held at Fillmore Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Mound City Nutrition Site.
