H. Stephen Elder

Harvey Stephen “Steve” Elder was born on April 27, 1942 to Harvey and Genevieve (Loucks) Elder. He grew up in Maitland and New Point, Mo.

Steve attended Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, Mo. He was an ordained Christian minister, and also drove for Anchor Serum of St. Joseph.

On Sept. 9, 1962 he married Patricia Paxton, and they became parents of four children.

Steve passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016 at his St. Joseph home at the age of 74.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Elder; son, Greg Elder; nephew, Seth Elder; and brother-in-law, John Paxton.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia, of the home; daughter, Marcia (Clayton) Branch of Winfield, Kan.; son, Bruce Elder of Cameron, Mo.; daughter, Megan Elder of St. Joseph; brother, James (Kate) Elder of Tarkio, Mo; sister, Lois Elder of Oregon, Mo.; mother-in-law, Violet Paxton of Oregon; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services: Monday, 11:00 am, New Point Christian Church. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Nichols Grove Cemetery, Oregon. Memorials: University of Arkansas Christ on Campus.
