Hila L. Jackson

Hila L. Jackson was born on May 19, 1923 in Red Cloud, Nebraska to Richard and Fay (Edwards) Vipond, and raised by John and Hazel Rasser. She graduated from Red Cloud High School.

On August 10, 1947 she married Francis T. Jackson in Red Cloud, and they became parents of one son. Her husband preceded her in death in 1985.

After graduating high school she worked as an office manager for the Farmers Home Administration. Following her marriage, she worked in the office of their family business, Jackson Paint and Bodyworks in Oregon.

Hila passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at a St. Joseph hospital at the age of 89.

In addition to her husband, Francis, she was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents; and two sisters, Leota Artz and Kathleen Prestjohn.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Marcia Jackson of Oregon; granddaughter, Christie and her husband Brian Plummer of Prairie Village, Kansas; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph and Mary Cuddington of Kenly, North Carolina.

Hila was a member of the Oregon Christian Church, a member of the Adelpha Club, and a member of the Order of the Easter Star since 1948. She also served as a Cub Scout leader.

Private family services were held at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon, with interment at Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon. Memorials may be directed to the Oregon Public Library.
