Hilda V. Slemp

Hilda Veronica Slemp was born on April 8, 1922 in St. Helens, England to Jack and Elizabeth (Tittle) Pennington.

In 1954 she married Herbert Everett Slemp in England, and they became parents of three children.

Herbert passed away in 1989. Hilda passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the age of 91 at her Mound City home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jack Pennington; and one great grandchild.

Survivors include her daughters, Pam Fessler and Eileen (Jack) Holt, all of Mound City; son, Herbert "Lee" (Sharmen) Slemp of Issaquah, Washington; 10 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Hilda managed a military PX both in England and the United States, and also cooked at the Walnut Inn in Tarkio. She enjoyed playing Bingo and slots.

Services were held on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 3:00 pm at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City.  A private family inurnment was held at Home Cemetery in Tarkio. Memorials may be directed to the Holt County Cancer Fund.
