Inez VanOrman was born on October 25, 1915 in Obion County, Tennessee. Inez was one of five children of Fred Kirby and Olive Ruth (Ridings) Taft.
She graduated from Poplar Bluff, Missouri high school in 1934. On May 9, 1937 she married John Edwin VanOrman. They moved to Mound City in 1947. John preceded her in death on June 21, 1996 after 59 years of marriage.
Inez passed away on September 22, 2018 at a Mound City care center at the age of 102.
In addition to her husband, John, Inez was preceded in death by her brothers, Dalton and Dwight Taft; sisters, Norma DiPano and Ruth Ponder; granddaughter, Staci Lynn Egbert; and a great grandchild.
Survivors include her children, John “Sonny” and Sharon VanOrman, Jr., Sun City, Arizona, Jane Ann and Don Egbert, Kansas City, Missouri; and Nana Ruth Mulvania, Rogers, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Inez worked in the Mound City school cafeteria and also for Mound City Flowers. She was a member of the New Liberty Baptist Church.
Family visitation: Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Services: Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, 11:00 am, New Liberty Baptist Church, Mound City.
