Irene V. Milne

Irene Virginia Milne, 93, of Oregon, Missouri, passed to her Heavenly home on Thursday, December 27, 2012.

She was born in Centerville, Iowa on December 25, 1919. Irene graduated from the Ft. Collins, Colorado high school in 1937, and from Colorado State University in 1941.


Irene married Billy M. Milne on January 24, 1943 in San Diego, California. In July 1946 they moved to Oregon, Missouri.

Irene belonged to the Pierce-White and Homemakers Extension clubs,  Missouri Extension Homemakers Association, Missouri Farm Bureau, the Methodist WSCS, the Oregon branch of the AAUW and the Missouri Chapter of the International Flying Farmers Association. She also belonged to the Oregon United Methodist Church, having taught Sunday school and been Membership Secretary for a number of years. Irene volunteered at the Oregon Care Center, and supported the Ladies Auxiliary No. 4839. She was also a Life Member of the Colorado State University Alumni Association.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Helena (Eid) Anderson; brother, Howard Anderson; two brothers-in-law, Frank Milne and Walter Olds; and a sister-in-law, Ernestine Milne.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Charla and Jim Cathcart, and their sons, Keegan and Presley; sons, Arlen (Diana) Milne of Kansas City and Erwin (Jennifer) Milne of Jefferson City; six grandchildren; one great granddaugher; sister-in-law, Betty Olds of Berkeley, California; three step grandchildren;  seven step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family visitation was held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Oregon United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
