Irvin R. Heck was born on the family farm home in the Bellevue Community of Holt County on August 1, 1931. Irvin was one of 10 children of Robert E. and Sidney (Nay) Heck. Irvin graduated from Bellevue High School, and then from the University of Missouri.
On Sept. 16, 1951 he married Geraldine "Jerry" L. Metzgar in Mound City. They became parents of five children and farmed in the Mound City community. Jerry passed away in 1995. Irvin then married Iris Williams, and they later divorced.
Irvin served the Mound City community as a member of the Atchison-Holt Ambulance board, the Mound City School Board, the Production Credit Association, and various other boards. He was a member of the Mound City United Methodist Church.
Irvin passed away on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at a Mound City healthcare facility at the age of 83.
In addition to his first wife, Jerry, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Garney, Marshall, Earl Jr., Dean, Virgil, and Darrell Heck; sister, Mildred Hamilton; and grandson, Chris Heck.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Jim and Jan Heck of Mound City, Gary and Dee Ann Heck of Mound City, Greg and Paula Heck of Independence, Mo., Leslie and Doug Kingery of St. Joseph, Mo., and Mary and Scott Quick of Dawson, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Audrey Heck of Mound City; sister, Joyce Lyle of Denver, Colo., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, 10:30 AM, with family visitation on Sunday evening from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm all at Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City. Interment: New Liberty Cemetery, Mound City. Memorials: Mound City United Methodist Church or the Rolling Hills Creative Living Group Homes in Albany, Missouri.
