Izyel E. George

Izyel Elizabeth (Stansbury) George was born on June 1, 1927. She was one of seven children of Lloyd Bryan and Julia Florence (Grimes) Stansbury.

She married George R. Knapp. George passed away in 1962.  In 1967, Izyel was united in marriage to Willis I. George. He preceded her in death in 1994.

Izyel worked as a cook at the VFW, and later at the Mound City Nutrition Site.

Izyel passed away at a St. Joseph hospital on October 19, 2022, at the age of 95. She was also preceded by her son, Keith Hurst; siblings, Chester Dyer, Mary Dyer, Frank Stansbury, Anabelle Stone, Agnes Campbell and Kathleen Thrash; grandsons, Scott and Josh Hufford; and great grandchildren, Michael Lull, Colton Young, Jonathan Hurst and Jeffrey Hurst.

Survivors include her children, Roger Knapp, Karen Stone, Sharon Hufford, and Robin Knapp; 23 grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren, 26 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
