Jack D. Holt, Sr.

Jackie D. Holt, Sr. 72, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 at his Mound City home.

He was born on September 25, 1945 in Mebane, North Carolina. He was one of six children of Hal D. and Leata (Heath) Holt.

Following high school, Jack served in the United States Air Force for four years. He returned home and worked alongside his father, learning carpentry from him.

He met and married Eileen Slemp in 1968 in Denver, Colorado. They would have celebrated their 50 ^th wedding anniversary on June 6.

In 1972 they moved to Missouri where Jack worked for a local farmer. He later worked as a self employed carpenter in the area before working at Hiawatha Implement beginning in 1997.

Jack was a member of the Mound City Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

He is survived by his wife Eileen, of their home; sons, Jackie D. Holt Jr. and his wife, Becky of Falls City, Nebraska, Chris (Courtney) Holt of Liberty, Missouri, and Brian D. Holt of, Falls City, Nebraska; sisters, Phyllis Caviness and Sandy Allison; brothers, Rick Holt and Dick (Beth) Holt, all of Burlington, North Carolina; and grandchildren, Maddie, Tristen, and Tatum Holt, Codey Janssen, Randee Tisdel and Jamie Sopoci.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Hal D. Holt.

Celebration of life with military honors: Friday, May 11, 2018, 7:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. The family will greet friends beginning at 6:00 pm. Memorials: Mound City Fire Department.
