James C. “J.C.” Nixon was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on March 21, 1943 to James T. and Viola (Cox) Nixon. He graduated from Rock Port High School.
J.C. served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969. In 1971 he married Mary Jean Fox, and they became parents of three children. J.C. worked for Lucent Technologies for 30 years, retiring in 2000.
J.C. passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at an Omaha hospital at the age of 71.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jean, of their Omaha home; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Steve Atkinson of Pleasanton, California; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Angie Nixon, and Curt and Kristy Nixon, all of Omaha; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Riley and Morgan Atkinson, and Will, Elli, Chloe, Cameron and Collin Nixon; and in-laws, Merle and Ruth Fox of Rock Port.
Services were held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Rock Port Baptist Church. Family greeted friends at the church beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment with military rites was held at Greenhill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
