Jerry D. Derr

Jerry Dean Derr was born in New Point, Missouri on December 30, 1939. He was one of four children of Henry Joseph and Wilma May (Walker) Derr. Jerry graduated from Oregon High School.

On November 12, 1961 he married Sharon K. Cotton in Oregon. They became parents of two children. Jerry worked in retail management for J. C. Penney in Kansas City. Jerry passed away at a Platte City care center on Sunday, May 8, 2005 at the age of 65.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, LeRoyce Derr; sister, Betty Field; and mother-in-law, Helen Cotton.

Survivors include his wife Sharon, of their Kansas City home; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Janene Derr, Kansas City; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and John Stuckenschneider, Peachtree City, Georgia; grandchildren, Alyssa and Austin Derr,  and Jordan and Katie Stuckenschneider; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Madeline Derr, Maitland, Missouri; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry and Donna Cotton, Oregon, Missouri, Helen Derr, Mound City, Missouri, and Max and Marlys Field, Kansas City, Missouri; father-in-law, Russell Cotton, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, mechanic work and woodworking.

Services: Wednesday, May 11, 2005, 10:30 am, Oregon First Christian Church. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials: Alzheimer's Association.
