Iris Joan Hall was born in Mound City, Missouri on April 16, 1934, one of three children of Ira R. and Daisy M. (Brown) Bickel. Joan graduated from Mound City High School, and then attended Tarkio College for one year.
On April 15, 1954 she married L. Wayne Hall in Mound City. They farmed in the Holt County area. For many years Joan and Wayne gardened and took produce to the farmer’s market in St. Joseph.
Wayne passed away in 2011. Joan passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the Oregon Care Center in Oregon, Missouri. Joan was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Robin Anne Nauman; brothers, Ira Robert “Bob” Bickel, Jr. and Charles Bickel; grandsons, Christopher Hall, Nicholas Dozier, and Logan Parker; granddaughter, Angela Hall; and great granddaughter, Kali Vanantwerp.
Survivors include sons, Scott (Gay) of Oregon, and Todd (Anne) of Forbes; daughter, Cindy (Dennis) Dozier of Medina, Tennessee; grandchildren, Athena (Randal) Johnson, Sabra (Manny) Perez, Brad (Christina) Hall, Clarence (Lisa) Hall, Mark Hall, Crissy (Matt) Gargano, Ashley (Jeremy) Williams, Cody Vanantwerp, Chelsea Hall, Chase Hall, Nova Parker, Andrea Parker, Heather (Justin) Smith, Mary Stone, Eric (Jayna) Stone, and Lori Stone; great grandchildren, Dalton, Alissa and Macie Johnson, Serenity Dozier, Caiden and Alana Perez, Josie and Jackson Gargano, Conner, Destini and Harley Williams, Chloe Vanantwerp, Luke and Emily Killin, Orion Headley, Holliann Hart, Emma Hall, Braedyn Hall, Charlie Hall, Cooper Hall, Carmina Carriger, and Chance, Sydney, Owen and Lila Smith, and Latham, Connor, Levi, Lennon, and Irish; great-great grandchild, Bellamy Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joan enjoyed playing the piano, reading, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and watching “Jeopardy.” She loved her grandkids.
