John Richard Acton, Jr

John R. Acton, Jr., 45, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Mosaic hospital.

John was born in St. Joseph on December 23, 1975 to John R. Acton, Sr. and Deborah Harris. John graduated from Benton High School in St. Joseph. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

John then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Park College, receiving a degree in Science Management.

He joined the United States Air Force in 1997, and served in Afghanistan with the 139 ^th Air Wing. John retired as Master Sergeant after 20 years of service.

Preceding him in death were his father, John R. Acton, Sr., and his brother, Anthony Acton.

Survivors include his mother; daughters, Stephanie Acton of Helena, Missouri, Mieka and Kiera Acton, both of Edgerton, Kansas; brothers, Tom (Lacey) Acton of Falls City, Nebraska, and Andrew Fuller of St. Joseph; and nieces and nephews.

John enjoyed genealogy, traveling, and spending time with his girls.

Services: Thursday, September 9, 2021, 11:00 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, Mo. Family visitation: Wednesday, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Interment with military rites: Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials: Disabled American Veterans or the United Services Organizations (USO).
