Joseph Bruce “Joe” Bullock was born October 16, 1937 near Fortescue, Missouri, the son of Bruce and Edna (Alkire) Bullock. Joe graduated from Craig High School. On June 30, 1954 Joe was united in marriage to Vaneta May Bennett.
Joe farmed in Holt County. He also worked at grain elevators for Hall Farms and Cargill, worked at Exide, and following retirement he enjoyed driving the bus for Head Start.
Vaneta passed away on October 31, 2010 after celebrating 56 years of marriage. Joe passed away at Mosaic hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri on May 25, 2015 at the age of 77.
In addition to his wife, Vaneta, he was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Bruce; and three infant siblings.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Lee “Tom” (Cathy) Bullock, Big Lake, Missouri, Robert Alan “Bob” (Lisa) Bullock, Noblesville, Indiana, and Jeffrey Lynn, “Jeff” Bullock, Fillmore, Missouri; two sisters, Alice Terry and Mary Belle Carter; nieces, Jeanie Carter Ohlensehlen and Mary Lou Terry Archer; nephew, James Terry; five grandchildren, Anthony (Angie) Foster, Trish Long, Tiffany (Aaron) Johansan, Jason (Danielle) Bullock, and Nathan Bullock; and four great grandchildren, Addison and Beckett Long, and Kendall and Hattie Johansan.
Services: Friday, May 29, 2015, 10:30 am, Mound City United Methodist Church. Family visitation: Thursday, May 28, 2015, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials: Mound City United Methodist Church or Holt County Cancer Fund.
