Joseph E. Morris

Joseph Eugene Morris was born in Fairfax, Missouri on July 21, 1955. He was the eldest of three sons of Donald Eugene and Phyllis Joan (Young) Morris.

Joe graduated from Craig High School in 1973. A lifetime resident of the area, he attended the St. Joseph Law Enforcement Academy, later serving as city officer with the Mound City Police Department.

Joe farmed with his family for many years, and then worked as a small engine mechanic.

Music was a big part of Joe’s life, as he enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.  He was active in the Christian Fellowship Church of Mound City.

Joe passed away at a St. Joseph healthcare facility on Dec. 9, 2014. He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, Phyllis, of Mound City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Mechelle of New Point, Missouri, and Todd and Denise of Kansas City, Missouri; niece, Kasie Morris; nephews, Caleb, Justin and Joshua Morris; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 at 5:30 pm, at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City. Family greeted friends following the services. Private family inurnment: Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City.
