Joyce A. Morris

Joyce A. Morris was born on Oct. 18, 1935 in Maryville, Missouri to William Weddle and Iona M. (Carr) Blackford.  Joyce graduated from Maryville High School in 1953.

On April 6, 1965 she married James “Pod” Morris in St. Joseph, and they became parents of two sons.

Joyce enjoyed crafts and painting, and taught painting classes. She made and shared Christmas ornaments. Joyce helped with Volume 1, “Gone Home,” and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed gardening and canning, and was a wonderful cook.

Joyce was a member of the Oregon United Methodist Church, the Oregon Adelpha Club, and the St. Joseph Women on the Go.

Joyce passed away on October 6, 2019 at the Living Community of St. Joseph at the age of 83.

Also preceding her in death were her husband, Pod, in 2010; her parents; brother, Bill Blackford; and half-brothers, Lloyd and Fred Blackford.

Survivors include her sons, John (Kelly) Morris and Jim Morris, all of St. Joseph; sister, Sharon Hart of Maryville; brother, Richard Blackford of Graham, Missouri; two grandchildren, Andrew James Morris and Jesse Raymon Morris; and nieces and nephews.

Services: Thursday, October 10, 2019, 11:00 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials: InterServ, 1412 N 3rd St, Saint Joseph, MO 64505
