Kathleen Bernice “Kathy” Kreek, 67, of Oregon, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 after a brave fight with glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer.
She was born on March 16, 1954 at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Timothy James and Bertha Sophie (Piotrowski) Gorman. Her parents preceded her in death.
On November 10, 1979 she was united in marriage to Arnold Dean Kreek of Oregon. He survives her at their home. During their marriage the couple lived in Austin, TX, Kansas City, MO, Lake Mary, FL, and Oregon, MO. They were blessed with one son, Lt. Commander Patrick Arnold Kreek, a Naval Flight Officer, who lives in Coupeville, WA with his wife Brittany.
Other survivors include her brother, Tim Gorman and his wife Patty of New Braunfels, TX; her sister-in-law, Eileen Kreek of Fairhope, AL; brother-in-law, Gary Kreek of Oregon; nephews, T.J Gorman, Carlos, Jose, Anthony, and Andrew Kreek; and nieces, Keri Kreek and Abigail Barton.
Kathy earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Yankton College and her Master of Social Work Degree from The University of Kansas. She applied her unique people skills both professionally as a mental health social worker and privately through her relationship with others.
Kathy was a member of the United Methodist Church of Oregon. Memorials may be made to the Oregon United Methodist Church and will be used for the drilling of a well in Mozambique.
A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on March 16, 2022 at the Oregon United Methodist Church. Inurnment was at Maple Grove Cemetery. To watch a video of the services, see the Oregon United Methodist Church's Facebook page.
