Kenneth O. Radley

February 12, 1932 — September 19, 2017

Kenneth O. Radley, 85, of Bloomington, Illinois, formerly of Mound City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, Illinois.

Kenneth was born on February 12, 1932, a son of Robert E. and Florence Champlain Radley.  He married Florence Colene Mutchler on February 26, 1949 in Oregon, Missouri.  She preceded him in death on August 23, 2009.

Kenneth was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Donald, and Gerald Radley; and a sister, Lillian Goerlitz.

Surviving are two daughters, Juliana Autry of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Brenda Koehler of Bloomington, Illinois; and a son, Russell Radley, also of Bloomington.   Kenneth also had six grandchildren, John Pedersen (Cristy), Shawn Bailey (Robert), Matthew Radley, Timothy Radley, Kayleigh Tipton (Seth) and Kyle Autry; seven great grandchildren; and beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kenneth lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa where he worked for the Council Bluffs School system for approximately 14 years before going to work at Northwestern Bell.  During his time with the telephone company he earned his GED and a third grade Building Engineer’s license.  He worked in Council Bluffs for several years before transferring to Omaha, Nebraska where he ran HVAC and other systems in the Dodge/Douglas buildings. Kenneth retired in 1990 after nearly 24 years of service. Kenneth and Florence moved to St. Joseph after their retirement.

In recent years Kenneth had moved to Bloomington, Illinois, to be near family.  He was very active in volunteer work, logging more than 4,266 hours at Advocate BroMenn, a local hospital.  He attended West Twin Grove Christian Church, and particularly enjoyed their “opry” services on Sunday nights.

Services will be held at Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City on Saturday, September 30 at 2:00 p.m.  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Mound City.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Hope Cemetery, South Bethel Cemetery, or the Holt County Historical Society.
