Kim E. Hughes, age 53, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at a St. Joseph, Missouri hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 27, 1959 in St. Joseph, the son of Herbert F. and Phyllis J. (Kurtz) Hughes.
Kim attended Savannah High School and graduated from Shawnee Mission West in Overland Park, Kansas. He began working for Sutherland Lumber Co. while still in high school, and worked there for a number of years. He then worked for Lowe's Home Improvement store in St. Joseph.
On April 3, 1982 he married Pamela Warriner. They were married for 23 years before they divorced.
Preceding him in death was an infant son, Jason Eric Hughes; paternal grandparents, Fred and Nellie Hughes; maternal grandparents Donald and Elma Kurtz; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors include his parents, Herb and Phyllis Hughes of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter, Erica Lynn (Andy) Supple of Kirksville, Missouri; son, Shawn Isaac Hughes of Rosendale, Missouri; sister, Vicki Lynn (Stan) Anderson of Savannah; brother, Tracy Dean (Penny) Hughes of McLouth, Kansas; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kim attended the First Baptist Church in Savannah. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Kim will be sadly missed by his family.
Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Savannah, Missouri, located at 500 E. Pawnee St, on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 11:00 am. Interment was at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Oregon, Missouri.
