L. Violet "Vi" Paxton

Lillian Violet “Vi” Paxton was born on April 13, 1924 in Kansas City, Kansas, the oldest of four children of Harvey and E. Annie (Owens) Kilgore.

Vi married Emil Lee Paxton on January 3, 1942 and they moved from Kansas City to Oregon, Missouri in the late 1940’s. They became parents of five children.

Vi passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Oregon Care Center at the age of 93.

Vi was preceded in death by her husband in 1989; son, John; brother, Francis Kilgore; sisters, Marie Northern and Jeanette Day; son-in-law, Stephen Elder; and grandson, Greg Elder.

Survivors include her children, Patricia Elder of St. Joseph, Missouri; Jim (Carole) Paxton of Savannah, Missouri, Phillip Paxton (Tanwya Runnels) and Ken (Lola) Paxton, both of St. Joseph; brother-in-law, Jake (Wanda) Paxton; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, 10:30 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Family visitation: Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, also at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Interment: Benton Cemetery. Memorials: Benton Cemetery.
